Stones River Group Expands Government Relations Team

News

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – (Sept. 30, 2026) – Stones River Group (SRG) President Mark Cate announced the addition of two new team members, Harris King and Emily McCaul, to the firm’s government relations practice.

Harris King joins SRG as Senior Director, Government Relations. In this role, King will leverage his experience and established relationships with members of the Tennessee General Assembly and Executive Branch to advance client objectives.

King previously served as Lead Government Relations Officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center, advocating for the medical center on a range of health care policy issues and helping secure funding for the Tennessee Poison Center, the state’s only emergency poison information resource center, and educational programs serving children who are blind. Prior to VUMC, King served as committee staff for the Tennessee House Health and Insurance Committees, providing legislative analysis and serving as committee parliamentarian. King holds a B.A. in Political Science & Philosophy from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and is currently pursuing his Juris Doctor at the Nashville School of Law.

“Harris’s background and expertise will make him an immediate asset to our clients,” said Cate. “He knows state government from the inside, has the trust of the people who make it work, and brings deep policy and process knowledge.”

Emily McCaul joins SRG as Senior Associate, Government Relations, where she will support the firm’s government relations practice, representing client interests with state government officials and aiding in the facilitation of firm operations.

Previously, McCaul worked in the office of U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty, where she served as Regional Field Director for the Knoxville region for the past three years. A Knoxville native, McCaul previously gained experience in government and politics through roles at the local and federal level. She is a graduate of Clemson University, where she studied political science with a focus on American government and politics and a minor in Spanish.

“Emily’s experience at the local, state and federal levels gives here a well-rounded view of how government works at all levels. And through her work for Senator Hagerty, she has proven her ability to build relationships with government officials and key decision makers,” added Cate.

King and McCaul are the latest additions to the growing SRG team. Zac Ellis joined the firm as Senior Director, Strategic Communications, in July.
